The problem we set out to solve

Anyone who loves their dog knows it: nutrition is the first lever of their wellbeing. Yet choosing well is hard. Kibble is convenient but it's ultra-processed food, often with very long, hard-to-read ingredient lists. Quality fresh food, on the other hand, usually means a fridge, a full freezer, defrosting to plan and shipments on ice: easy in words, complicated in everyday life.

In between are the dogs who, on standard food, simply aren't well: they scratch, their stomach is upset, they turn their nose up at the bowl. For them the solution almost always runs through a simpler diet and a single protein at a time. Pappa Fresh was born out of this very concrete frustration: to bring real, cooked food to the bowl, but finally make it easy to manage at home.

One protein at a time

Every Pappa Fresh recipe contains a single animal protein source: beef, chicken, turkey, horse or pork. It's not a marketing choice, it's a clinical one. Keeping the diet to one protein at a time makes it far simpler to understand what's good for your dog and what isn't, and it's the foundation of working with dogs that have allergies and food intolerances.

Among our recipes there's also horse, a "novel" protein — that is, uncommon in the everyday diet of most dogs — often used as a hypoallergenic option for the most delicate cases. No mix of different meats in the same pouch, no surprises on the label: you know exactly what your dog is eating.

Formulated by a veterinary nutritionist

Pappa Fresh recipes are formulated by a veterinary nutritionist: every meal is complete and balanced, designed first for the dog's health and then made practical to use. We don't start from what's easy to sell, but from what the bowl actually needs — quality proteins, vegetables, the right nutritional balance — and then turn it into something convenient for the person caring for that dog every day.

The project is also supported by the Clinica ARS Veterinaria di Modena, which shares and backs its approach with its own consultancy and advice. It's a professional endorsement we're proud of: it means that people who see dogs with food problems every day believe in the way we've built Pappa Fresh.

Fresh, but no freezer

This is our real innovation: vasocottura. Pappa Fresh recipes are cooked and sterilised right inside their vacuum-sealed 400 g pouch. The cooking is gentle, by steam — a method that preserves nutrients better than the high temperatures of extrusion — and the sterilisation inside the sealed pouch is what makes the food shelf-stable for up to around 2 years at room temperature, with no added preservatives and no cold chain.

In practice: no freezer to fill, no defrosting to remember, no shipments on ice. Open the pouch when you need it, and what your dog finds in the bowl is a portion of cooked food. It's quality fresh food made, at last, as convenient as a can.

Pappa Fresh is made in Italy by a partner specialised in pet food, and shipped directly from Italy. The vasocottura method has its roots in the Italian tradition of quality preserves: for us Made in Italy isn't a label, it's a way of working. We use human-grade ingredients — that is, the same category as those intended for human consumption: meat, vegetables and grains you'd recognise on the label, not anonymous codes.
